Its elevated campground is surrounded by natural bushland on private property, just minutes from the iconic Chilli Beach, Restoration Island, Kutini Payamu (Iron Range) National Park and historic Portland Roads.
Owner operators Neale Dahl and Mim Bauman have opened their property to guests, creating a haven for those wanting to enjoy the remote beauty of the eastern Cape, with its long sandy beaches, offshore islands and lowland tropical rainforest. Cape Weymouth is a beautiful coastal destination positioned between Portland Roads and Chilli Beach. It’s 800km north of Cairns and a 45 minute drive from Lockhart River. Observation platforms provide the perfect vantage to watch the sun rise over Restoration Island and Cape Weymouth, and then enjoy sundowners as the sun sets over the mountains.
Cape Weymouth Camping and Cabins will have 8 established campsites, a camp kitchen and amenities block including hot showers with limited laundry. The sites are suitable for caravans, camper trailers and tents. The cabins are not yet built but are a work in progress. This side of Cape Weymouth is sheltered from south easterly winds and you can fish from the rocks below. Alternatively, you can buy some locally caught seafood, bait and ice from us.
During your stay why not enjoy some of the attractions of the area. Go for a relaxing walk along Chilli Beach, enjoy a sunset cruise or a day out fishing. Rainforest walking tracks offer opportunities to observe some of the unique flora and fauna of the region. Visit Lockhart River and get fuel or replenish your supplies and while there visit the Arts Centre.
